Thanksgiving

Since we had such a bountiful squash harvest, we decided to make an entire Thanksgiving dinner dedication to squash.

First course was a brussels sprouts salad with sweet potato cakes and roasted mushrooms, tomato, and sage.

Next was a butternut squash soup with crispy leeks. The presentation makes it taste even more festive.
Homemade chestnut, butternut squash ravioli with tarragon, toasted almonds, and asiago
Veggie pate en croute. This was the odd ball out. First off, it's French and second, we've never made anything like this before. Homemade pastry with a pate of mushrooms, lentils, squash, carrot, garlic, and rosemary.

Thank you for an Amazing first season!

Matt and Reena's Italian street food cart is officially closed for the season! Our first season was filled with many learning experiences and great people to help us along the way. We want to especially thank the farmers that make our food possible and the farmer's markets where we can sell our product.

We will be back next season with new food inspirations and flavors from our travels to Italy in January. Keep checking our blog and facebook for updates and photos.

Thanks again and have a great winter!

We got more press!

Wheels up: Food trucks go gourmet from Rockland to Belfast - PenBay Pilot

We're still going!

The season is coming to and end, but it's the prettiest month of the year and we still have our Rockland and Damariscotta farmer's markets.

We had a calamari special and we got the squid from Conrad, the 8 year old who caught it fresh with his dad. We love supporting local!

We still find time to relax, even if just for a minute. One of our favorite spots is the Slipway.
Awesome mussels and picpoul.

We got a special surprise when Matt's sister, Christina, brother in law Matt, and niece came to visit.

Parker and uncle Matt

This is what farinata looks like when we make it at home. Onions, garlic, and local cheese.
A beautiful day in Damariscotta where we saw Oyster Shell Heaps, which are ancient remnants (dating back at least 2,400 years) of centuries of feasts left by Indians who summered along the Damariscotta River.

We still have a month to go for the farmer's markets, so if you're around, visit us on Thursday from 9am-12:30 at the Rockland farmer's market and Friday from 9am-noon at the Damariscotta market.

It's our first event at the Maine Boat, Homes, and Harbors show.

Michele Raggusis stopped by to give us some of her famous chowdah.

The weather didn't stop people from going in the water.

Friendship Day

We were lucky enough to be able to be part of Friendship day, which is the town we live in. It was an awesome experience, we got to meet a lot of locals and learn about the history of the town.

There were several floats, hand made of course.

This was our setup, right in front of the cemetery

Hand made custom t-shirts

Matt's sister Christina and Donna from Feliani Fay hand printed our company name, Tap Root Food onto recycled materials. They are 1/2 cotton and 1/2 polyester, which makes them super soft. You can buy one today!

Our first event

Friday night was our first ever event in Rockland. The Strand presented a free music night with awesome food, wine, beer, and music. It was a great turn out and we were so happy to be there!

The setup where the free concert was being held. That's us on the right (Matt in view). Also there, Taco Libre, a new awesome Mexican food truck.

Kathy from Stone Fox Creamery was there serving awesome ice cream.

It's hard to believe that about an hour after this photo, there were tons of people all around the cart and all over the place!

This is the crowd right about when we sold out.

What an awesome turnout! I guess that's what happens when you are able to sell wine, beer, and delicious food.

Thanks to Sarah and Donna at The Strand for making this event possible, it was a total success for all!

Rockland Farmer's Market animal day!

We had such a great day at the Rockland Farmer's market today. Local farms brought their animals and the weather was certainly summer.

Guini ridge Farm brought their sheep

There were 3 super cute kittens that were going to be up for adoption there (Monkee almost got a sibling!)

Appleton Creamery had their kids there, one female and one future buck. It's amazing to see the source of your fresh product.

He's going to be a stud!

Daily life

We're constantly working, but when we're not, we're enjoying Maine, making sushi and living the good life.
